Timeline.
Former
Police Married Quarter on Hollywood Road was included in the List of Sites for
Sale by Application on March 2005. [1] With the advocate of Antiquities Advisory
Board and concern of public, it was withdrew from the List of Sites for Sale by
Application on October 2007. [2] This is probably the turning point of Former Police
Married Quarter. Later on, “Conserving Central” initiatives was announced in
the 2009-10 policy address, while Former
Police Married Quarter was included as one among eight sites to redevelop by Musketeers Education and Culture Charitable Foundation Ltd. [3] The site was accorded as Grade 3 Historic Building on November 2010.
The public plays an important role in the process to preserve the Former Police Married Quarter. Its voice about the rezoning of the site was heard and a site investigation was conducted to ascertain the site's value and importance. As we can see, the public is able to affect the decision of the government. Involvement of public's opinion is crucial for government to make a better decision, that is accepted for both government and public.
