Heritage policy.
With the purpose of advising the Antiquities Authority on things related to antiquities and monuments, for example whether a historic buildings should be declared as monument or accorded as graded buildings, Antiquities Advisory Board was established in 1976. While the final decision was made by the Antiquities Authority.
Since 1980, a grading system has been implemented by the Antiquities Advisory Board to divide historic buildings into three grades with reference to their values and importance. [1] The decision was made according to six factors, including historical interest, architectural merit, group value, social value and local interest, authenticity and rarity. [2]
