Historical background.
College
Dr. Sun Yat-Sen studied at Central School located at Gough Street in the year of 1884 and then it was relocated to the present location in 1889. It was called Victoria College and later renamed as Queen's College in 1894. Headquarters of Japanese In 1941, which was the year during WWII, Japanese occupied Hong Kong and Queen's College was closed and it became the headquarters of the Japanese. Hence, the building had caught fire and damaged. It was later demolished in 1948. Police Married Quarters Police Married Quarters was established in 1951 and two individual buildings were built. There was another building used as Hollywood Road Police Primary School. In 1981, the school was changed to Central Junior Police Call Clubhouse. Left Unused In 2000, all of the residents inside the Quarters were moved out. The Antiquities and Monuments Office reviewed the historical value of the building from 2005 to 2007. Then, it was listed as Grade III historic building in 2010 and a decision was made to transform the building into a creative industries landmark. PMQ PMQ started to operate in 2014. |
