observation and
reflection.
As tourists, they could enjoy visiting the studios, got to know about the history, having a meal in the restaurant and resting in the open area. Besides, they could get the information from the information counter and from the website which had clear instruction on the background of PMQ, studios, shops and the upcoming events. However, more volunteer docent should be recruited which helped to promote PMQ. Besides, signage should be improved especially the locating of the "Underground Interpretation Area"
For the overall observation, most of the visitors were foreigners. Young people were another major visitors. Besides, we also found a tour from the Mainland. They were allowed to go around freely after the tour guide gave a brief introduction of PMQ. Another observation was that the things sold were relatively high in price and it could be due to the production of the goods. They were designers goods but not mass produced. Also, the overall impression of the building was very modern even though they kept the original outlook of the main blocks. The display was similar to a shopping mall in which most of the visitors aimed at hanging around or shopping instead of trying to get to know the history.
After the visit, we think that PMQ accomplished its object as developing the building with the focus on innovation and creative industry as well as target on international market. However, we have a doubt that if the shopping mall-liked centre transformed from a heritage is a proper revitalization project. Also, is it correlated with the local community because the participant of the project is a small group of people such as the foreign visitors. Besides, we also concern about if this becomes a over commercialized building and a tourist spot while minimizing the importance of history and heritage.
